Prevalence of ADHD
ADHD is one of the most common neurobehavioral disorders in children. Here are the facts:
- More than 15 million Americans are estimated to be affected by ADHD
- In 2007, over 5 million or 9.5% of US school-aged children were reported by their parents to have ever been diagnosed with ADHD.
- It's estimated that 4.4% or 10 million US adults aged 18 to 44 have ADHD. This estimate was based on a survey of 3,199 adults aged 18 to 44 and applied to the full US population aged 18 and over.

There are many ADHD support groups available to parents. Connect with others who are talking about teens and ADHD. Check if there is a local ADHD support group near you.
If your teen has ADHD, talk to your teen's doctor. Medication may not be appropriate for everyone.
